Shechem
A Hivite prince whose abduction of Dinah led to the massacre of his city by Jacob's sons.
Shechem was the son of Hamor the Hivite and the prince of the city bearing his name. His defilement of Dinah, daughter of Jacob, prompted a deceptive peace treaty followed by the violent retaliation of Simeon and Levi. The city of Shechem later became a significant geographical and spiritual site in Israelite history, serving as a place of covenant renewal and the burial site for Joseph's bones.
