Sidon

An ancient Phoenician city-state north of Tyre, known for its maritime trade and idolatrous influence on Israel.

Sidon was the firstborn son of Canaan and the progenitor of the Phoenician city that bears his name. Throughout the Old Testament, the city is frequently associated with Baal worship and political tension with Israel. In the New Testament, Jesus visited the region, and the Apostle Paul stopped there during his journey to Rome, marking the city's ongoing significance in the Mediterranean world.
