Old Testament
So
An Egyptian king to whom Hoshea, the final king of Israel, sent messengers seeking an alliance.
So is mentioned in 2 Kings 17:4 as the Egyptian monarch whom King Hoshea of Israel contacted in a failed attempt to form a political alliance against Assyria. This act of rebellion led Shalmaneser V of Assyria to imprison Hoshea and eventually besiege Samaria. The identity of So remains a subject of scholarly debate, with some identifying him as Osorkon IV or a shortened reference to the city of Sais.
