Judah

The fourth son of Jacob and Leah, whose tribe became the royal line of Israel and the lineage of the Messiah.

Judah was a patriarch of Israel who demonstrated significant personal transformation, notably by offering himself as a substitute for his brother Benjamin. His life is marked by the prophecy in Genesis 49:10, which identifies his tribe as the seat of royal authority and the line through which the Messiah would come. The tribe of Judah later became the leading tribe of the southern kingdom and the namesake of the Jewish people.
